READING LIST: Steven Hahn's "A Nation Without Borders"

This arrived in the mail yesterday, and after perusing the prologue just now, man oh man, am I looking forward to reading this!

I continue to benefit enormously from Steven Hahn's innovative approach in A Nation under Our Feet: Black Political Struggles in the Rural South from Slavery to the Great Migration (2003), which quite rightly won the Pulitzer Prize; was happy to have reviewed an early version of his forthcoming U.S. history textbook, which I will seriously consider adopting for my courses when it is released; and am expecting to have my horizons broadened and my categories challenged again with this book, A Nation Without Borders: The United States and Its World in an Age of Civil Wars, 1830-1910 (2016), volume 3 in the new Penguin History of the United States, edited by Eric Foner.
