UPCOMING: Book Talk in Phoenix
I'm happy to be traveling to Phoenix, AZ this weekend for a talk about my new book, A History of the Baha'i Faith in South Carolina. I'll be presenting at a monthly gathering at the home of my friend Dr. Gregory Schweitz at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. I'll have copies available for sale and signing.
I know, I know, Phoenix seems like a long way from South Carolina! But it's actually not much of a stretch. In fact, these days the South Carolina Baha'i experience is perhaps more urgently relevant than ever. Increasingly, Baha'is everywhere are building a shared body of experience as they engage larger numbers of people from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds in their efforts to transform society. With its long history of building interracial fellowship and reaching large numbers, the South Carolina Baha'i community holds rich lessons for all parts of the United States. And as the nation as a whole, Arizona included, struggles with vital questions about who is and is not an American, how we understand our history, and our visions of the future, the contributions of the Baha'i community need to be more widely understood.
So Phoenix friends, please make plans to join us this Saturday! Email me directly for details at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!
